This book has some really interesting and valuable information for both new and those seasoned creators.
I didn’t say just artists because anyone who is creative can benefit from this book as Austin put it nicely in his book that this is for everyone because we are all creative beings.
There are a lot of great quotes from various artists/creative brings in this book.
‘Start copying what you love, copy copy copy. Atbthe end you will find yourself. ‘ Yohji Yamamoto
He talks about the enjoyment of being bored and creating our world with the things we love. How computers hinder the initial creative process. That we should always carry a notebook for ideas.
He talks about a log book and the importance of finding out the journey of where we’ve been.
We need to be analog mode to create with not only our minds but our entire bodies should be involved in this process. Getting back to basics with pens and papers, sticky notes and markers. Using computers to publish and polish the work at the end.
Going online he states is beneficial because it kicks us in the pants as it forces us to produce and think of new things for our audience. You are only as good as your last post.
So would I recommend this book? I’ve read it twice in the last week, so yes I would say definitely.
This book has so many little great tidbits of helpful helpful information that gives you some real substance in starting or even getting back into your creativity.
What a great book! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for that formula they think is out there.
Which there really isn’t, only help for you to figure it out on your own. And you know what? I am glad for that because it takes the pressure off, each and everyone has their own journey. So the next time someone asks me how did you do it I’m directing them to this book. Cause thus by far is the best answer you could give someone.
Happy creating! And happy Halloween! 🎃
Cheers
Happy Halloween 🎃
